History

Formed with the mergence of many small air companies, British Airways completed 90 years of existence on 25 August, 2009. After First World War in 1919, British Air along with AT & T (Aircraft Transport and Travel) started the first service of scheduled flights. Since then, the airways has come a long way and was finally given the name British Airways in 1974. The airline has launched the British Airways Heritage website to mark the special occasion of completing 90 long years. One can see the records and artifacts of British Airways predecessor companies BOAC, BEA, BSAA and the pre-war Imperial Airways and British Airways Ltd along with an extensive document archive that records the formation, development and operations of the above companies and British Airways.
