An Eco-friendly Move! Sikkim To Introduce Bamboo Water Bottles For Tourists

In a bid to end the use of plastic, the small and picturesque state of Sikkim is introducing bamboo water bottles for tourists. 

Lachen, a beautiful town in Sikkim, will become the first destination in the country to completely ban packaged drinking water from entering its area of land.

Lachen is one of the most beautiful places in Sikkim! It is home to the lovely Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake and promises stunning views of snow-covered Himalayas.

Thus, it attracts a number of tourists every year which results in a high number of plastic bottles being left behind.

The local authorities in Sikkim have already given a nod for the production of 1000 bamboo water bottles.

Sikkim has been a pioneer in the fight against plastic. It first took the step towards restricting the use of plastic bottles in 1998. Additionally, in 2016, the state completely banned plastic bottles in government offices and events.
