“We’re gearing up to welcome you to the New arrival terminal of Delhi Airport’s T1, which is set to offer you a distinctive experience!” Delhi Airport tweeted.

Until now, the departures were taking place from the T1(D), while arrivals were happening from T1(C). Once the new arrivals terminal becomes operational, the T1(C) will be demolished. As a part of Phase 3A of the airport expansion master plan, the new terminal will have arrivals and departures under the same roof.

The terminal has been built across 8,000 square metres, featuring four new baggage reclaim carousels. As per the Global Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), it’s green in colour with a daylight concept.

According to the media sources, “In addition, lighting fixtures and equipment like HVAC and baggage belts are energy efficient and thus consume less power. Apart from these, DIAL has also used eco-friendly and human-friendly products in the terminal.”

The pickup lanes outside the terminal have been realigned to give three additional lanes. There are now 11 lanes for smooth traffic movement. Parking space has been expanded for cars, taxis and shuttle buses.

The terminal will also have a VIP lounge, meet and greet zone and a modern food court for the convenience of the passengers.
