Elmont Hotel

The staff were welcoming and the rooms were tidy. I stayed here for a conference and really enjoyed the catered meals! One suggestion is that the rooms currently have very bright, clinical white lighting; using warmer bulbs could improve the atmosphere. Also, the sheets are quite thin, so thicker, fluffier comforters would enhance comfort.

It's been some time since my last visit. I really enjoyed myself. The wedding was wonderful.

The elevators were out of order for two days, so we had to use the service elevator. The breakfast area was severely understaffed, with only two employees serving a room occupancy of 75%.

I only stayed here for a convention.

The staff were consistently friendly and helpful throughout the day. The location is ideal, with Garden City near the city tennis center and conveniently located right across from the train station. Free parking is a great bonus. The fitness room is adequate but could use a remote for the TV. One of the two elevators was out of order for two days, but wait times were never long. For a hotel at this price and quality, I suggest adding self-serve coffee in the lobby or restaurant during breakfast, as the $50 buffet price is quite high and not more special than what you'd find at a Hampton Inn. Rooms should include a recycling bin and an additional trash can in the kitchen or bathroom area. Toiletries could be improved by adding Q-tips and a second bar of soap for both the bath and handwashing sinks. Lastly, I prefer fitted mattress sheets over flat sheets since they stay tighter and don't wrinkle. Overall, I recommend this hotel but wanted to share these thoughts.
