Hotel Sunpark

This is my personal favorite hotel in Manali. Why? Because not only their food, hospitality, service are all top notch but the views and also super good.At this budget point, this property is a must visit during your trip to Manali.

Bathrooms had faulty taps with water gushing like a waterfall. Flushes didn't work properly, and rooms weren't serviced before guests arrived.We had to call for everything. We booked a family room for 4, but it only had amenities for 2 people. No floor mats; after requesting, we got a few worn-out towels instead.One housekeeping staff barged into our room at midnight without knocking mistaking it for another using a master key. It was terrifying.Staff were clumsy and slow overall; only the luggage boys were good. Very bad experience, though the non-veg food was decent.

We booked a room for one night through MakeMyTrip.The initial room allotted to us had a window, but the view was completely blocked by a big wall just a few feet outside it. It felt so suffocating. When we asked for another room, they said that this was the only "deluxe" room available with a window, and another room was available but didn't have any window! Then they said we had to pay extra Rs. 500 to upgrade our room, to which I agreed because I had no choice.There was no floor mat for the bathroom door. It was not provided even after asking the housekeeping staff multiple times. So, in some time, the entire room was filled with wet footprints.The WiFi was not working. Our laptop didn't even show their network due to poor signal. Our phones managed to show their network when I stood in some corner of the room but couldn't connect with the password they gave. We called them multiple times, and they said they'll get back, but never did.In the morning, we found that the floor near the window was wet. The window had water condensed and it was dripping on the floor. The water was brown in color due to mixing with the dirt in the window frames.The lifts were small and old, and the corridors were narrow and felt like a dungeon.The complimentary breakfast was average quality.We checked-in late in the evening, and we just wanted a decent place to sleep for one night before we continued our journey to another city in the morning. But in those few hours, the hotel gave us plenty of stress and anxiety. On top of that the staff was really not helpful.Overall, it was a disaster, and we were happy to get out as quickly as possible in the morning.

This is not strictly speaking a hotel, but it's more of a lodge primarily meant for marriage/ function guest stays. Rooms are shabby and dirty, don't even get me started on the toilets. We checked-in and checkout within 20 mins of our stay. Front office refused any refund/ other considerations. Definitely not meant for family stays.

The only positive aspect of SunPark is its location, as it is conveniently situated right on the Chandigarh’Kalka highway.However, it is not really a ’resort’ as advertised ’ it feels more like a regular hotel. The rooms are average (around 3/5) and acceptable only considering the price.Cleanliness was a major concern. I found a baby cockroach on both the bed and sofa upon entering the room, which was quite unpleasant.Service was also extremely poor. Wi-Fi looks like of 2008 era, "Super Slow".The room telephone was not working, making it impossible to contact room service. The mobile numbers provided were also unreachable- I tried multiple times on all available numbers without any response.There is a basic expectation that a guest property ensures everything is functioning properly before welcoming visitors. Unfortunately, they fell far short of this standard, and I would rate them just 1 out of 5 on this aspect.Overall, I would not recommend this property based on my experience.PS: I stayed in rooms 118 and 124.
