Truly thankful

Honestly, this was one of the best hostel stays I've experienced! Freedom House has a warm and social atmosphere, making it easy to meet other travelers and make new friends. The rooms were tidy and cozy, with everything well kept. The staff were approachable and always willing to assist when needed. I especially appreciated that they can connect you with locals for scooter rentals at fair prices, which also helps support the community. Overall, I had a great stay here and would definitely return and recommend Freedom House.

Pleasant location

Don't be deceived by their shiny Booking.com listing—this place is basically a rundown shed lacking any basic facilities. A simple rainstorm caused a power outage, their supposed backup generator was completely non-functional, and by the next morning there was no running water for flushing toilets or drinking. We ended up paying to be stuck in a dark, cramped, mosquito-ridden space. The friendly facade vanishes as soon as they get your money. When we complained about the unbearable conditions, the owner responded with arrogance, condescension, and outright hostility, refusing to refund any money when we left early. This isn't a hospitality business; it's a scam that takes advance payments and abandons guests. The management is terrible. You'd be better off sleeping on the street—it's cleaner, safer, and less hostile than this disaster.
