Hotel Sonar Bangla Tarapith

I arrived on Wednesday evening for a two-night stay, but the experience was so terrible that I left after just a few hours, losing my money entirely. A large group of about 10–12 people stayed in the room next to mine, and the situation was completely out of control: there was nonstop loud screaming, swearing, and heavy drinking late into the night. The hallway and our balcony were filled with thick cigarette smoke, making it hard to breathe or relax. When I reported this to the front desk, I was told nothing could be done because the group had booked most of the hotel. Instead of enforcing rules or ensuring a peaceful environment, management ignored the problem to cater to the noisy group. With the unbearable noise and smoke and no help from management, I had no option but to leave that night. Any professional hotel would have handled the situation, enforced quiet hours, or offered another room, but Sonar Bangla showed no care or professionalism. If you want peace, safety, and good service, avoid this place as it prioritizes group bookings over guest comfort and safety.

Booking this hotel was a bad decision! It's too expensive given the low level of cleanliness. A big group of guests acted very badly—shouting, using foul language, being drunk, and smoking pot in public spaces, including near the pool. Complaints to management were ignored. They did nothing to stop the disturbance, which went on until early morning! Definitely not a suitable place to stay in a holy and important place like Tarapith.

The accommodation and facilities are acceptable, but the main issue is that the management fails to control disruptive guests and ensure a safe environment for residents. We stayed at the end of July when another group event was also happening on site. The noise was intolerable, with people shouting and swearing at passersby. The swimming pool was constantly occupied, and intoxicated guests were loudly singing, disturbing others. They smoked near elevators and public areas, making it hard to move around. Despite multiple complaints, management refused to intervene. Sonar Bangla is not a good choice if you want a decent and secure stay in a place like Tarapith. Additionally, when we decided to check out early, they refused to refund the unused days. Even so, I left because staying there was no longer feasible. Basic respect is the minimum expected from a hotel, but here they not only failed to act but also kept our money by not refunding us. Avoid this property if you want safety and better service in the area.

One of the worst experiences at Tarapith, never felt this bad after paying a bomb. A certain group booking made the stay a nightmare. Open boozing , smoking beeedis in common area, screaming, loud music & uncouth behaviour. We had to ask other friends of ours to cancel booking and move to another hotel since this certain group started indulging in heckling ladies. When informed to Hotel Management, they just sided with this nuisance group bcos they made more bookings and hotel management didn't allow us to cancel our booking nor addressed our concern. Book this place at your own risk

Our experience at Hotel Sonar Bangla, Tarapith was very disappointing despite its convenient location and adequate amenities. The main problem was the hotel hosting a large group during our visit without making sure other guests could enjoy a quiet environment. Noise around the pool and common areas persisted from early morning until late at night, with shouting, loud talking, and disruptive behavior making it hard to relax or sleep well. It was also troubling to see open smoking of cigarettes and hookah in public spaces, along with abusive language in the hallways. Given that Tarapith is a pilgrimage site, we expected a peaceful, family-friendly setting, but our stay was quite the opposite. We reported our concerns multiple times to the staff, but no meaningful measures were taken to manage the situation. It seemed the management valued accommodating the large group more than guest comfort. While the rooms and food were satisfactory, good facilities do not make up for poor discipline and guest management. If you plan a quiet family or spiritual trip to Tarapith, I suggest confirming with the hotel about large group bookings in advance. From my experience, I cannot recommend staying here during such times.
