Kerala House - Homestay

A pleasant place to stay featuring spacious rooms and balconies overlooking the forest. Both the room and the adjoining bathroom were very tidy and clean. Breakfast in the morning included idli and plain dosa served with chutney and sambhar, which felt homemade and tasty. The host was courteous and accommodating, even storing my small luggage for a few days after I checked out while I was away on an activity.

Our stay at Kerala House Homestay during our trip to Kerala was truly unforgettable. The location is ideal, situated very close to the Periyar Tiger Reserve forest entrance, which is perfect for those who love nature. The rooms are roomy, well-maintained, and offer stunning views of the jungle. We were thrilled to see wildlife right from the property, including a herd of bison and wild pigs near the boundary wall, which was a remarkable experience. The host, Mr. Shibu PR Puthuparambil, and his family were incredibly warm and hospitable, attending to every detail to make our stay comfortable. The bathrooms were spotless and well-maintained, reflecting their commitment to hospitality. A particularly special moment was when we asked for Bengali food after tiring of the usual Kerala dishes; they quickly prepared a simple yet tasty meal of dal, rice, and omelette, served with great care and kindness. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and the memories we created will last a lifetime. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Thekkady!

Writing this from the place where I am staying. It feels like being near Jurassic Park. Behind the area shown in the pictures I shared, there is a tiger reserve forest, and it looks stunning. Pure simplicity at its finest. The room is very clean. There is no AC, but I think it’s unnecessary since the place is naturally cool. A fan is enough. I actually turned off the fan at night because the floor itself is cold. The host is very humble and extremely helpful. There is no food service inside, but once you step outside, you will find many options. Just a heads up, I experienced some brief power outages in the early evening. Although there is a generator, the power still went out for a short time before coming back. Overall, a wonderful stay.

Amazing spot. Perfect for a brief stay while trekking and adventuring. Beautiful views and refreshing air on the balcony. Make sure to keep the doors locked or the Macaques (monkeys) will open them, as we quickly learned. Really enjoyed this place.
