Royale Amata by the Beach

Most of our experience here was actually decent but an incident at check out was so jarring and potentially dangerous that I have to give it all 1 star. This was in November 2024, so hopefully things have changed since then.We were moving from this hotel to one in South Goa and had to call a cab. When the staff heard we were getting a cab, they quickly told us that we'd have to arrange this with the cab union whose "territory" the hotel was in and insisted that there was no other way.They called the cab union for us but the prices were really high so we tried Goa Miles. When the Goa Miles cab came, men came out on bikes and threatened the driver who called us after he had driven away and asked us to cancel because he was being followed. The hotel staff then called the cab union again and chatted and laughed on the phone with them as if they hadn't just threatened and scared away a guy. They kept insisting that we had to get a ride with these union guys, which we refused to do -- we were two women travelling alone and figured that if the Goa Miles driver hadn't felt safe, why should we?We got mad and decided to walk til we were out of the cab union "territory," and so hauled all our luggage down the road in the heat. The front desk staff called the cab union again as we were leaving and apparently told them which way we were going as we soon realized we were being followed.They followed us out to the main road. The situation ended with us having to call the police and film the men who had been following us, as they threatened every driver who came for us even after we had left the union territory.I get that this hotel can't control what the unions near them do, but the staff certainly doesn't need to be so buddy-buddy with them, either. They didn't need to insist that we get in the car with the union guys and they didn't need to share our movement with them when we took off walking. They put us in harm's way without hesitation, as if it was just business as usual.If they know the union is an issue, they should offer some assistance in getting out of union territory besides "walk." But at the very very least they shouldn't be helping these thugs pressure people into using their service. Is management even aware of these arrangements they have with the cab unions?Also, unrelated to the incident, dead bugs would occasionally fall from the ceiling onto the bed in the hotel room. This happened multiple times during the stay for unknown reasons.* Not adding the video we took of the incident at the request of the driver who eventually picked us up
