Sterling Shivalik Chail

My family and I had the opportunity to spend four days and three nights in Chail a few days ago.As I write this review, I reminisce about how we were looking for a nice place to stay. Based on the reviews and the info that we could collect, we decided on this place.Our decision couldn't have been a better one.LocationThe Sterling Shivalik Resort is a nice, quaint property nestled in the Shivalik Valley between Chail and Kufri.So, boom! If you are looking for a central location from where you can visit the tourist spots in Chail or head out to Shimla, Kufri or Narkanda this fits the bill perfectly.But its not just about the location. For a moment i did not think we were out in the wilderness at 7000 ft in the middle of nowhere.Rooms & ServiceThe rooms are well appointed with all modern amenities - TV, hot water, radiators and what else have you.The staff is great. They enjoy their work and take pride in what they do. They are responsive and helpful.We had a few minor niggles. But these were sorted out very quickly by the staff.FoodNo hotel stay can be truly enjoyable without good food. In this context, lets just say unequivocally that the food was beyond our expectations. The sheer variety of food served in breakfast was amazing.Especially if you consider the challenges involved in supply chains, storage, handling and preparation at such a location.My thanks to all the wonderful people whom we met over there - Raghvinder, Vishal and Mukesh and a host of other people at the front office, room service and F & B.If you are thinking of visiting Chail and looking for a place to stay then think no further and do yourself a favor. One of the best vacation stays I have had. I extended my stay here because of the following reasons:-Big spacious rooms.-Amazing service.-Super helpful and friendly staff.-Delicious food.-Dedicated play area with many indoor games.-Open lawn with kids amenities, cycles for adults.-Mr. Vishal and Mr. Bobby were always very helpful. Our toddler had become friends with all the staff members and especially Mr. Vishal.-Mountain view from the balcony.-Very quiet stay with lot of natural light in the room.The only improvement needed was the wifi. Despite having 2 routers in the corridor, wifi network in the rooms was less.This place is definitely in our 'visit again' list.

Pros - Good rooms. Nice interiors and location to walk around in the valley. Food is good and the reception is very accommodating.Cons - Sterling branding. It's more like a highway hotel with a sterling brand. It has no pool no activities for kids, nor is there anything around to roam and pass your time. Chail and kufri both are around 15 kms from the hotel which makes it more of a secluded place to do nothing in the rooms if you plan not to go anywhere on the day. As a member/guest if you like spread in your meals then you will not have buffets most of the time as the accomodation is low.Another construction from the owners relation makes it a completely viewless room as it completely blocks the valley view. The hotel built with no valley views although there was enough room to do it. Pathetic architecture I would say who wasted such views and put windows on the side.So overall a not to go place in case u are a sterling member for you will repent your membership. As a guest the place will give you no thrill or adventure to seek. As a family nothing for kids. As accomdation is low you would have no activities to look to. Better put your hard earned money to some other place.

A great stay with valuable memories that we took back home. The Staff took great care of us-both hospitality and food wise. Mr. Vishal, Mr. Bobby and Mr. Hari were very warm and caring about it.

Beautiful location, polite staff, memorable stay.
