Taj Chia Kutir Resort & Spa, Darjeeling

Their user interface is poor. I initially booked for my birthday in February, but after refreshing, the date changed to July 27th. I ended up paying for that. The confirmation screen never showed the booked dates. Later, I found out from the email that the booking was for July 27th, not February 18th. I cancelled within 5-8 minutes because their cancellation process was slow, but they still charged me over 50%, calling it a last-minute cancellation, even though the booking was last-minute too. I requested a refund but was denied. I had made another booking for February which I cancelled after this experience. Edit - I was already communicating via email about this, but support declined to help and is now ignoring my messages.

Staying at Taj Chia Kutir, Darjeeling was an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm greeting. The hospitality and carefully planned experiences provided by the staff were truly exceptional. We want to especially thank the gentleman from Siliguri, who works at Taj Deccan, Hyderabad, for recommending Taj Chia Kutir to us. His advice led to an unforgettable visit. A special shoutout to Jinat Chattri for being an excellent guide during our valley trekking. Despite the rain making us unsure about going, he ensured we could complete the trek since we had planned it in advance. Also, many thanks to Chef Roshan Kumar Sinha for quickly preparing cakes and cookies for us to take home to our loved ones. Lastly, we appreciate Sridaksha Thapa's kind and thoughtful gesture at check-out, which was a wonderful way to end such a fantastic stay. Every team member at Taj Chia Kutir was polite, attentive, and truly dedicated to making our visit memorable. Thanks to the whole team for an outstanding experience!

Having stayed at over 200 hotels worldwide, I can confidently say that the hospitality team at Taj Kutir, Darjeeling is among the best I've encountered. The property is stunning, but what truly sets it apart is the people and the culture of service they have cultivated. From the moment we arrived, Fatima from Guest Relations made us feel sincerely welcome. She took the time to introduce us to the property, thoroughly explained its facilities, and ensured we understood everything available during our stay. It was a fantastic first impression. The Food & Beverage team also deserves special recognition. The F&B Manager and restaurant leadership were consistently present at breakfast each morning, making sure guests were comfortable and service standards were maintained. Our station holder was very prompt, and most of the team cared for us with warmth, efficiency, and professionalism. The only area for improvement was that a few staff members occasionally avoided eye contact and seemed to overlook guests during breakfast and dinner service. Although this involved only a few individuals, it stood out against an otherwise excellent service culture. A special mention goes to the Executive Chef. On our first breakfast, I requested a dish that required advanced culinary skill and was not on the regular menu. Instead of declining or suggesting an easier option, the Chef accepted the request confidently and professionally. The dish was prepared perfectly, showing not only exceptional culinary talent but also a genuine desire to delight guests by exceeding expectations. Our departure was as memorable as our arrival. During check-out, Duty Manager Daksha and Guest Relations Manager Fatima engaged us in a wonderful conversation about the property, staff training, and upcoming hospitality developments in Darjeeling. Their passion and pride in their work were evident. The highlight of our stay, however, came after we had checked out. Our tea and coffee had been delayed, and as we were leaving in our car, Fatima personally brought the hot beverages to the exit gate so we wouldn't have to wait or miss them. This level of ownership, commitment, and attention to detail is very rare. It wasn't just about delivering tea—it showed a service mindset that goes far beyond standard hospitality. Overall, the team's dedication, accuracy, promptness, and eagerness to exceed expectations were outstanding. Among all the hotels I've stayed at, this team ranks comfortably in my top ten worldwide for guest service. In fact, within Indian Hotels Limited, I found the attitude, responsiveness, and genuine desire to delight guests at Taj Kutir to surpass my recent experiences at Taj Mahal, New Delhi; Taj Lands End (Taj Towers), Mumbai; and The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. This is not a comparison I make lightly, but it speaks volumes about the leadership and culture at this property. Congratulations to the entire team at Taj Kutir, Darjeeling. Your hospitality is heartfelt, your service authentic, and your commitment to guest satisfaction truly world-class. I look forward to returning.

Our time at Taj Chia Kutir, Darjeeling was truly enchanting. From arrival to departure, every moment was filled with sincere warmth, outstanding hospitality, and careful attention to every detail. We especially appreciate Fatima, whose kindness and attentiveness made our visit even more special. Her welcoming nature made us feel completely at home. The room provided stunning views of the valley, and waking up to the misty hills each morning was an unforgettable experience. Evenings were delightful, with a tasty dinner and a fantastic live band setting the perfect mood for a relaxing and memorable night. The thoughtful parting gift of Makaibari Darjeeling Tea at checkout was a lovely touch and a wonderful memento of our stay. Many thanks to Taj Chia Kutir for crafting such cherished memories.
