India’s COVID recovery rate increases to 90%; becomes second country to reach 20 crore vaccination coverage

India has recorded less than 3 lakh daily new COVID-19 cases for 10 consecutive days now. In the last 24 hours, a total of 2,11,298 new cases were registered whereas the recovered cases have gone to 2,83,135.

As per the Health Ministry, “The number of daily infected people in the country is steadily decreasing. Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Lav Aggarwal, said that on May 7, more than 4 lakh 14 thousand people were infected while now the number has been reduced to about 2 lakh 11 thousand people.” 

Mr. Aggarwal said that on May 3, the number of COVID patients was 17.13%, which has now been reduced to 8.84%. Similarly, during this period, the rate of health has risen from 81.8% to 90%.

On the other hand, India has also become the second country after the US to have crossed 20 crore cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage.

India achieved this coverage in 130 days as against the USA’s feat in 124 days.

According to the available data, other leading countries in COVID-19 vaccination drive include the UK which has reached 5.1 crore mark in 168 days, Brazil that reached 5.9 crore mark in 128 days, and Germany which reached 4.5 crore mark in 149 days.
