IRCTC Kashi Mahakal Express Is Finally Operational

On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Kashi Mahakal Express which will be connecting the three jyotirlingas namely Omkareshwar near Indore, Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain, and Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi.

The train will begin its commercial operations on 20 February 2020.

Kashi Mahakal Express is unique as it provides a full-service overnight journey. Passengers can also book exclusive tour packages covering both religious and tourism sites in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Route Details

This new Tejas Express will run thrice a week between Varanasi and Indore: once via Prayagraj and twice via Lucknow. The route of the train will be via Sultanpur, Lucknow/Prayagraj, Kanpur, Jhansi, Bina, Sant Hiradnagar, Ujjain, Indore and back.

 

Some of the interesting features of the train include light devotional music, on-board housekeeping, security services and world-class vegetarian meals among others.

 

Interesting Fact: The Kashi Mahakal Express had a seat reserved for Lord Shiva or Lord Mahakal. Additionally, a temple had also been drawn on the seat to make the passengers aware of the reserved seat.
