Kerala’s Famed Neelakurinji is Back: The Flower that Blooms Once Every 12 Years

Starting late July, Anaimalai hills near Munnar in Kerala will be dazzling, attired in a purplish blue carpet.

This beautiful carpet is created by the celebrated
neelakurinji that blooms into a flower – a phenomenon that occurs once in 12 years.

The last time this astounding spectacle occurred in 2006
with the blossoms of the 40-odd varieties of tiny reddish blue flowers.

This year, thousands of visitors are expected to flock to the Munnar hills to observe this phenomenal display that lasts up until October. Plan a trip soon to witness this ‘once in a 12 years kind of experience!’
