Khajuraho Dance Festival 2021: treasures of India lined up from Feb 20 with FREE entry!

As the last days of winter are replaced by the blush of spring, the Khajuraho Dance Festival is ready to welcome travellers for a week of desi entertainment and exciting cultural tours. 

Now in its 47th edition, the majestic event will be held from February 20 to 26 beside the Western Group of Temples complex in Sevagram, Khajuraho. Entry is free.

This is India’s biggest celebration of classical dance, and the evening shows in 2021 will be supported by interesting talks, craft fairs, motion pictures, local food stalls and plenty of avenues for shopping.

As a special bonus, Madhya Pradesh Tourism and the Department of Culture are also organising tours to the nearby Panna Diamond Mines, Panna National Park, Dhubela, and Orchha at this time, making the festival an all-in-one getaway that packs in heritage, adventure and wildlife. 

Schedule for 2021

> Classical dance performances by India’s biggest names beside the 11th-century Khajuraho temples. They’ll begin at 7 pm daily, and you can see the schedule for performances at khajurahodancefestival.com/artists.php

> The ‘Art Mart’ heritage crafts mela, open from 4 pm daily on the theme ‘City of Woman’

> Panel discussions by eminent speakers on Indian heritage, from 10.30 am every day

Authentic handicraft stalls like these will be set up from Saturday

> Handicrafts demonstrations and a cultural fair, from 2 pm every day

> Film screenings on art, artists and traditions from 4 pm daily

> Terracotta and ceramic pottery workshops and displays 

> A smaller folk music and dance ‘lokotsav’ at different venues in Chattarpur, Khajuraho and Panna (from Feb 21-26, starting 2 pm daily)

> A Bundeli food festival that puts a spotlight on this little-known cuisine
