Soon, travelling to Himachal Pradesh will become more convenient as the Centre has approved the construction of an airport in the hilly district of Mandi.
The proposed airport will be of international standards, which will help boost tourism in the state. The airport is also of strategic importance as Himachal Pradesh shares a boundary with China from the tribal districts of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti.

It is to be noted that Mandi is located at a distance of 145 km from the state capital Shimla. The construction of the airport will be undertaken as a joint venture by the state government and Airports Authority of India (AAI).
