Western Railway Extends Special Trains for Summer Rush!

To manage the surge in passenger demand during the summer season, Western Railway has extended six pairs of special trains from May to July 2026. This initiative aims to reduce overcrowding and provide a smoother, more comfortable travel experience for long-distance passengers.

 These extensions will remain in effect on select routes, with varying dates depending on the service.


Extended Services and Routes:

  • Mumbai Central – Katihar Weekly Special (09189/09190):
    Mumbai to Katihar train services have been extended between mid-May and late July 2026, benefiting passengers travelling between Maharashtra and Bihar.
  • Mumbai Central – Banaras Weekly Special (09183/09184):
    On this route, from
    Mumbai to Varanasi, train operations will continue through the peak summer period till the end of July 2026.
  • Udhna – Ayodhya Cantt Weekly Specials (09093/09094 & 09097/09098):
    Two pairs of trains on this high-demand route have been extended from May to July/August 2026, offering improved connectivity for pilgrims and regular travellers.

  • Ahmedabad – Darbhanga Weekly Special (09465/09466):
    Ahmedabad to Darbhanga train services have been extended from May to June 2026, supporting travel between Gujarat and Bihar.
  • Gandhidham – Bhagalpur Weekly Special (09451/09452):
    Operating between Gujarat and eastern India, this route has also been extended through May and June 2026.

The extension of these services is expected to significantly ease travel during peak summer months by increasing seat availability, reducing waitlists, and ensuring a more convenient journey for passengers across major long-distance routes.
