The Darbhanga Airport in Bihar has begun flight operations just in time for Chhath Puja, one of North India’s biggest festivals.
The airport comes as a huge relief for people of the Mithila region, who earlier had to travel for hours to reach Patna just to catch a flight.

Book FlightsDarbhanga will now be connected by air to Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Budget carrier SpiceJet is the first airline to operate flights to these cities from Darbhanga under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik).

With the Darbhanga airport now operational, the people of the region will save at least four to five hours travelling to and from Patna.
The airport has 6 check-in counters and a capacity to handle almost 150 passengers during peak hours with all necessary amenities in place.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has developed the airport as a civil enclave at Kevti, around six km from Darbhanga town.
It is expected that flight services from Darbhanga will also be extended to other cities in the near future.
