Kengbari Retreat grew on me quietly. I was immediately impressed by how clean and well-maintained everything was—from the spotless rooms to the thoughtfully arranged corners showing genuine care by the owners. The wooden interiors impart a cozy mountain feel without being excessive, and the large windows provide lovely natural light all day. The peaceful environment allows for waking up to birdsong instead of noise. The hosts and staff were exceptional—warm, attentive, and always ready with helpful local tips without being intrusive. Their sincere hospitality made the experience feel like visiting a carefully maintained home rather than a hotel. For anyone seeking a clean, tranquil, and tastefully kept place in Gangtok with attention to detail, Kengbari Retreat is an excellent choice. I would gladly return.

Solo Traveller • Jul 2026After wanting to visit Kengbari based on friends' recommendations, I finally came today with some companions. The location is truly beautiful and the ample parking was very convenient as we arrived in about five cars. The food was acceptable, but the service was very poor. I had to wait more than an hour for my order, and many menu items were unavailable, often being told, "Sir, it's not available," which was disappointing. Even with these problems, the overall experience was okay, but their service needs serious improvement.
