KTDC Periyar House

The hotel's greatest advantage is its fantastic location. The guest service was also commendable, with staff being both helpful and polite. However, other aspects were quite unsatisfactory. The room emitted a strong phenol odor, and the bathrooms were poorly maintained. Overall, the hotel requires considerable upkeep and better maintenance. With improved care and cleanliness, this place could easily rank among the top accommodations due to its prime location. I hope the management invests more effort into property maintenance and enhancing the guest experience.

I stayed with my family at KTDC Periyar House on 07/08 September, 2026. Positives: 1) The location is amazing. Since it is inside the Tiger Reserve, entry and exit are restricted between 5:30 pm and 6:30 am (for good reasons). Wildlife like elephants and porcupines often come into the resort area. The lush trees around the resort attract many beautiful birds. Traveling on weekdays means fewer tourists, providing a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. 2) The staff are friendly, polite, and helpful. I suggest chatting with them to learn more about what the place offers. 3) The restaurant has a limited menu, but the food is clean, tasty, and served with a smile. 4) There is plenty of parking. The rooms are simple, clean, reasonably priced, and functional. 5) The KTDC boat ride is a must. Animal sightings are common. If you stay at Periyar House, you can get tickets at the reception for much less than online prices. Call the resort ahead to confirm this. Negatives: 1) Watch out for monkeys. Keep windows closed during the day, never leave car or room doors open, don't walk around with food, and never feed the monkeys. They can be aggressive, and if scratched, expensive anti-rabies vaccines are required. 2) The jeep safari is overrated and too expensive. It has a terrible off-road section leading to a mediocre viewing spot. You'll likely end up with a bad backache. The receptionist will try to sell the jeep safari at check-in. I agreed but wish I hadn't. 3) Power cuts happen frequently without warning. Overall, it is a wonderful experience. Definitely worth a visit.

A must-visit place for families. The staff were very friendly and offered excellent service. The food was delicious. The hotel's location is great and offers a jungle-like experience. Worth the money.
