Lamel Cove Beach Resort

The food here was outstanding and served in large portions; plus, being right next to the beach, the sound of the waves constantly fills the air ❤️

We booked a double room for a one-night stay. A major advantage is the stunning sea view, sunrise, and the constant sound of waves, all at a very affordable rate of 1.7k/-. The gardens are lovely, though the rooms could use some upkeep. Since we were out exploring Auroville, we didn't spend much time inside. I would suggest staying on a higher floor for better cleanliness and views. Basic items like soap, shampoo, shower gel, towels, and a kettle are provided. It's a nice spot to relax and unwind, though not very luxurious. We didn't eat on-site, so I can't comment on the food.

I planned to spend the weekend here and thought Lamel Cove would be a good choice based on the reviews. The location is excellent, right on the beach, but aside from that, everything about this place was a total disappointment. The construction quality is poor, especially disappointing given it's near Auroville, known for earth building. There were leaks everywhere, unfinished walls, exposed conduits, and the toilet seat was so high that it was uncomfortable to use. The rooms had dusty floors, unclean sheets, and rusty door locks. The bathroom lacked ventilation. For a sea-facing, supposedly premium place with attractive photos online, the basics should be properly handled. The whole property felt so neglected that I question what the management considers "clean." This is hospitality, not a personal home. If you can't keep it clean, don't run a hotel. That is the most fundamental requirement. Despite most things being disappointing, the food was quite good, and the service was friendly and prompt. I especially appreciate that Lamel Cove employs a waiter who is speech and hearing impaired, which is a commendable humane gesture. To the owners: if you can't maintain a property with such potential by the sea, don't bother being in hospitality.

It sits right on the beach.. but apart from that - everything about this property was a complete disaster.Firstly, the quality of construction itself. Being in Pondicherry, near Auroville, the home of earth building, it’s a sin to have such a poorly constructed place. Leaks everywhere, poorly finished walls, conduits on walls not finished, the toilet seat being so high up that one can’t even reach the floor while doing their dirty business.The rooms - floor was dusty, sheets unclean, the lock on the door rusty. The bathroom didn’t have ventilation. I’m sorry - but a sea facing place, that boasts of being premium, and has such attractive pictures online has to at least get the basics right.The entire place is so rundown that I wonder what the management even thinks and acknowledges as “clean”. This is hospitality guys - not your goddamn home. Don’t run a hotel if you can’t keep it clean. That is the most basic thing required.While almost everything about this place was a letdown - the food wasn’t. It was on the better side of things. The service was good and prompt. The waiters were friendly. But I must give full props to Lamel Cove for employing this one waiter who is speech and hearing impaired. I thought that was a great humane gesture. To the owners - don’t even bother being in hospitality if you can’t maintain a place, especially one with this kind of potential, being on the sea.

It's such a lovely place, the rooms were near and it's run by some awesome people who help so much with the accomodation and parking. Also love the food. It's one of the best in any room stay hotels.
