Sumitel Hotel 500 meters from Mall Road

This is one of the best hotels in Darjeeling. Location wise it's middle of Darjeeling railway station & Mall road - both takes 5 mins walking. View room in 5th floor has the magnificent view of kanchanjunga with the whole city.Room & the hotel has all the required facilities. Special mention to the card lock system in lift n rooms. It's situated in sumi square Mall so without room key you can't go beyond reception floor in lift. That's really a impressive security system & the entire room is having card lock facility without key.

Well I have to say the whole hotel was not bad.Food was good, service was great and rooms are nice.The only real relative complain I have is just the hotel being old.Power going off.Wifi not working.Things looking so old!But it has its own positive and negative charm I guess.Overall good price and value hotel.

Must recommended hotel for a stay with good ambiance. The Sumitel hotel provided by north east tour on a package is amazing. The restaurant is amazing and the food as well. The service did not disappoint us. Must visit this place as it is placed centered to the main market and bus stand so it is very convenient to get anything around as well. Thnx to all the staff for providing us with the best service. We will visit again.

PROs:- Rooms were spacious and clean- Thank god there was a fan in the room. It was a saviour.- Chowrasta is walkable from the hotel.- You will love this place if you love shopping in DarjeelingCONs:- The hotel was located amidst the market place and was always crowded.- Accessibility to the hotel from the road was very narrow and through platform shops. (Most of the roads in Darjeeling were like that. Fortunately the hotel had service people to guide us to the hotel. Otherwise, there is no way you can find the hotel from the main road.)- Service in the restaurant was very bad. The lady in the restaurant carried an attitude and did not respond properly to the customers. I felt it was because we were from South India. She gave one-word responses and was responding without even looking at our face. We were forced to order food from our rooms to avoid those gestures. Even we did not like to see her face with that attitude.- We requested for drinking water and they took almost 30 min to give that.- Restaurant prices were also high

1. We booked city view room but they didn't provided.2. Washroom amenities were not provided,all were provided after asking.3. Reception Staff were not polite in night shift.Other staff were helpful.4. No curtains were provided in washroom,water was coming out of pan after flushing.5. All hotels guests were asked to go on Jai complex for dinner and breakfast due to shortage of lpg.6. After asking 3 times room heater was provided.7. Safe for family travellers.8. No light are glowing at washroom. Only needed to manage with 1 small bulb.
