The Bangala Chettinad

Very bad experience. When I was young, I went there and was told Achii was in charge, which seemed good. But the first time I went with my parents, the prices didn't match the menu. After Achii left, there was no responsible management. The GM seems local and doesn't know how to welcome guests. I heard from the local village that he is known to that family. It's not professional like Vishalam or Chidambara Vilas. After Achii left, I can't come back. Professionalism and etiquette are slowly disappearing. Then an important incident happened. Years later, I went with my parents and had a bad experience. Recently, I stayed alone and it was very bad. I asked for coffee but no one responded. When I went to the restaurant, everyone was sleeping at 5:30 am. I saw a man smoking near the pool, which is close to the kitchen. I asked a person cleaning the pool, and he said the man was the chef. I followed him and saw he didn't wash his hands after smoking. I'm not against smoking, but a chef should maintain cleanliness and hygiene, especially wearing a lungi. I asked for coffee and was told it would be ready by 7 am. Another kitchen assistant gave me coffee, but it tasted terrible. I had lunch, which was the same meal I had seven years ago with my parents. I don't know how guests stay here. Staying at Vishalam and Saratha Vilas is a blissful experience. I stayed 10 days at Vishalam, where coffee is available anytime and service is excellent. I complained to the GM about the bungalow and shared my grievances, but he didn't know how to communicate and stood like a military man. There is no hospitality here. Some guests come just because of Achii's name. My experience was the worst. I strongly recommend Vishalam, Saratha Vilas, or Thappa Garden instead.

I didn't stay overnight but went there for lunch, which turned out to be one of the best choices. The homemade food was excellent and definitely worth trying.

Hotel històric fantàstic a Chettinad, amb construcció colonial envoltada de natura, piscina i una cuina abundant amb productes locals. Ambient tranquil i personal disposat a ajudar els viatgers. També es poden visitar cases històriques properes a l'hotel.

A botique hotel in the truest sense. Very calm. Well maintained. Clean. Hygienic. Traditional. Food was quite good. Pool was great. Traditional. Nice place to relax

Mediocre room with no facilities and an AC which is atleast 30 years old! It's okay to give vintage feel but not when u offer bare minimum experience...glad we chose only one day here! The price is definitely not proportional to the amenities offered...will only choose here to maybe have a meal for lunch or dinner...not at all recommended for stay
