Grand Shamba-La offers a delightful experience in Kalpa, nestled among apple orchards with breathtaking views of the Kinnaur Kailash range. The rooms are tidy and cozy, the meals are fresh and tasty, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The property is full of charm, featuring unique touches like a mini theatre, a meditation hall, and a snug attic—ideal for relaxing after a long journey. The owner, a passionate biker, displays a rare and well-maintained Royal Enfield Lightning 535 indoors, which adds a special appeal for motorcycle fans. It’s a memorable stay marked by authentic Himachali warmth. Finding the entrance can be a bit tricky, so it’s best to call them when you’re nearby to get directions right.

We visited Grand Shamba-La after placing our food order over the phone before arriving. When we reached the restaurant, there wasn’t a single staff member available. I called the same number we had used to place the order, only to be told that they couldn’t attend to us because they didn’t have enough staff to serve customers.For such a large and well-known property in the heart of Kalpa, this level of service is completely unacceptable. We waited for quite some time, hoping someone would come to assist us, but no one did. There was no communication, no apology, and no effort to accommodate us.To make matters worse, nearly two hours after we had already left, they called asking, ’Where are you, sir’? By then, we had long given up and gone elsewhere.The entire experience was extremely disappointing. Good hospitality starts with respecting your customers’ time, and unfortunately, Grand Shamba-La failed on every front. I would not recommend this place based on the poor service and lack of professionalism we experienced.
