Some places dazzle with luxury, while others quietly capture your heart. Vanilla County definitely belongs to the latter. From the moment we arrived with our infant son, we felt more like family returning to a beloved ancestral home than mere guests. Set among lush plantations, the property blends seamlessly into its green tropical environment, as if nature itself crafted it. Every corner is filled with birdsong, tall trees, spices, and the calming rhythm of the hills. The heritage bungalow, lovingly maintained since 1947 and handed down through generations, has a soul that can't be replicated. Though rich in history, our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully outfitted with all modern comforts. The food deserves special mention. Each meal celebrated Kerala’s culinary traditions with creativity and passion. It felt like many recipes had been passed down through generations before reaching our plates. It's rare to find food so deeply rooted in tradition yet so unique and memorable. Be sure to try the indigenous Panam Paani, a delightful nod to Kerala’s forgotten flavors. Then there’s the bakery. Tony, the baker, is a true artist. The pancakes were among the best we've ever had. The banana bread was incredibly moist, the breads beautifully made, and the muffins simply irresistible. Every bite showed remarkable skill and genuine love for baking. What truly sets Vanilla County apart, though, is its people. Hospitality here isn’t from manuals or hotel standards; it comes straight from the heart. Maju, George, Jinto, and Tony made every interaction warm, effortless, and sincere. Cherry, the adorable resident puppy, quickly became a highlight of our stay and won our hearts. Special thanks to Sulu, whose constant warmth, kindness, and welcoming smile made us feel deeply cared for and wonderfully spoiled throughout our visit. Before leaving, take the gentle fifteen-minute walk to the nearby stream. Sitting beside the flowing water under the forest canopy is a simple experience that stays with you long after your trip ends. Vanilla County is more than just a place to stay. It’s a place to slow down, reconnect with nature, enjoy extraordinary food, and experience hospitality at its purest. We arrived as guests and left with memories that will last a lifetime.
