IRCTC All Set To Revamp Retiring Rooms At 600 Stations

More power to the Indian Railways!

IRCTC is all set to revamp retiring rooms at 600 stations across the country.

This is going to one big makeover. The plan includes equipping rooms with Wi-Fi connectivity, quality mattresses and linen, LCD TV, potable water and room heaters and aesthetically-designed washrooms among other facilities.

As per A.K. Manocha, IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director, “We are in the process of floating tenders to engage reputed service providers for the maintenance, expansion and introduction of new facilities in retiring rooms on the PPP and renovate-operate-transfer (ROT) model”.

He further added, β€œTo begin with, retiring rooms/dormitories at around 400 major stations will be taken up to provide upgraded services to rail passengers”.

Currently, the Railways manages 2,000 retiring rooms, and the main aim is to provide an affordable stay option to bona fide passengers who want to book a room for upto 72 hours.
