News Alert: Airport Shutdown, Direct Flights to Dehradun & New Facility at the Mumbai Airport

Here are the details:

1.Ranchi airport to be shut down daily for 7 hours till January 2021

Ranchi’s Birsa Munda International Airport has announced that flight operations at the airport will remain suspended for seven hours between 10.15am to 5.30pm everyday till January 15, 2021. This is being done in order to undertake repair work on the runway.


The airport has rescheduled flight operation timings into two halves. Now, flights will operate between 6.45am and 10.15am in the first half and from 5.30pm till 9.15pm in the second half.

Due to this change, as many as 12 flights of GoAir, Air Asia, IndiGo and Vistara airlines will be operated in the first half while about 11 will be operated in the second half.

2.Vistara enters Uttarakhand by launching direct flights between Delhi & Dehradun

Vistara airlines has finally marked its entry in Uttarakhand by launching direct flights between Delhi and Dehradun. The airline will be operating three flights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays between the two cities. 

Passengers must note that Vistara is the first and only airline as of now to offer premium economy class travel between Delhi and Dehradun, in addition to business and the economy class. These flights are bookable on ixigo.


3.Mumbai airport offers Wi-Fi, food to arriving travellers waiting for RT-PCR report

To further increase passenger convenience, the Mumbai airport has announced that it will be providing food and complimentary Wi-Fi to travellers undergoing RT-PCR testing at the airport.

It is to be noted that RT-PCR testing generally takes about 6-8 hours to give results. The services will be provided to passengers while they wait for the test results. 

During the waiting period, travellers can choose food items from a special menu, and they will also be served hot and cold beverages round the clock on request, apart from availing free internet services.

The convenient facility to get tested at the airport was launched on September 6, and it has been availed by over 8000 passengers since then.
