PM Modi Flags Off Northeast’s First Vande Bharat Express Today!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched India’s 18th Vande Bharat Express and the Northeast’s first such superfast train today.

The train covers a distance of 409 km in 5.30 hours between New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal and Guwahati in Assam.

The superfast train has eight rakes and has been manufactured at the Integrated Coach Factory in Chennai.


The Assam Vande Bharat Express starts from New Jalpaiguri station at 6:10 am and reaches Guwahati at 11:40 am. It starts from Guwahati at 4:30 pm and returns to NJP at 10 pm. The Vande Bharat Express operates on all days except Tuesdays.

The train has stoppages at New Cooch Behar, New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, and New Bongaigaon Kamakhya.

The Vande Bharat Express has tickets in the range between 1,285 and 2,150 for the 409 km journey.
