In the past 23 days, the national transporter has already managed to move a similar number of trains and passengers.

Along with this, the Railways is also planning to introduce more special mail/express trains, particularly on east-bound routes on which bookings have touched between 90% and 100%.

Railway Board chairman VK Yadav said that they have worked out the number of more Shramik Special trains, their origin and destination stations based on the requirements from states. He also said that trains can be run within states, benefiting around 10-12 lakh people.

So far, 35 lakh stranded migrants have travelled in Shramik Specials and other special trains whereas nearly 40 lakh others have travelled in buses.
