In a new order, the coronavirus-related lockdown in Tamil Nadu has been extended till 30 September but with substantial relaxations. The new relaxations have been provided in line with the Unlock 4.0 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Here are the major changes that will be effective in Tamil Nadu from September 1:
>There will be no complete lockdown in the state on Sundays in September.
>The e-pass system for inter-district travel has been discontinued. This means that people can travel across Tamil Nadu without an e-pass. However, e-pass is still mandatory for people coming from other states and foreign countries.
>All places of worship, hotels and resorts have been allowed to re-open. The places of worship can be open for the public with a limited number of people at a time.
>Intra-state bus service (public and private buses) can resume from 1st September.

Search Trains>The Chennai Metro has been allowed to resume operations from 7th September.
>Tourists will be allowed in Ooty, Yercaud and Kodaikanal with e-pass procured from district collectors.
>Big showrooms and shopping malls have been allowed to re-open. Shops and restaurants can be open till 8 pm while takeaway from hotels and restaurants can function till 9 pm.
>Government and private offices can work with 100% staff but work from home has been strongly advised.
All relaxations will require adherence to Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) including social distancing, thermal scanning and using masks and hand sanitizers.
Schools, colleges, cinema halls, suburban trains, swimming pools, amusement parks, beaches, zoos, museums and tourist spots continue to remain closed until further orders.
