Pros: The main advantage of this hotel is its close location to the Guruvayoor temple, which can be reached on foot. Cons: Almost everything else about the stay was very disappointing. We reserved two Suite Rooms hoping for comfort, but were greeted by a dusty, stale smell right away. The bathrooms were dirty, badly maintained, and dysfunctional—the toilet did not work properly. Service was nearly absent due to a very understaffed and inexperienced team. Parking was a big problem. Although valet and security services were advertised, the security personnel did not know how to drive. I had to move the cars blocking me myself. The dining experience was also poor. With only two other tables occupied, it took over 20 minutes just to place our order. The food quality was barely acceptable, and management policies were poorly implemented. Despite paying high rates for Suite Rooms, no complimentary breakfast was offered. After completing our 6:00 AM darshan, we returned at 8:00 AM expecting the restaurant to be open as promised, but it was closed indefinitely because staff failed to show up. Verdict: Stay away from this hotel. Calling these rooms "suites" insults guests, and the lack of basic hospitality makes the experience very frustrating.

We reserved 3 rooms for 9 people at Mayura Residency, Guruvayoor via Agoda, with a rate of about ₹3,000 per room and had paid a ₹600 advance. Arriving around 10 PM with family, the trouble began. At reception, we were told our booked rooms were unavailable due to an Agoda error, which they said happens sometimes, and we could complain to Agoda but only had a 50% chance of refund. Since it was late and we had no other options, they offered two suite rooms at ₹6,000 each with three extra beds. We accepted, which in hindsight was a bad choice. The reception looked nice, but that was the best part. The rooms seemed old-fashioned, like a renovated old house. The bathroom was unclean with waste left on the European toilet. The flushing system was outdated and ineffective due to weak water flow, making it unpleasant. The small bathtub's lever to switch water to the shower was jammed, so the shower was unusable. We received only one extra bed per room instead of three; staff gave no proper response. The room had a main AC and a split AC, but the split AC didn't work and the main AC couldn't cool the room well. The sofa was extremely hard. Parking was a big problem with no proper space, despite paying around ₹15,000 for rooms. The staff's attitude was basically "adjust and find your own parking." When we checked out at 11:30 AM, they didn't inspect the rooms, just took the keys and asked for a review. I said I'd review with photos. This is my personal experience; I can't say all rooms or guests have the same issues. But given the booking problem, room availability, outdated facilities, cleanliness, AC issues, missing extra beds, parking troubles, and staff response, I was very disappointed. If you have other accommodation options in Guruvayoor, I suggest considering them before Mayura Residency. The reception area was nice and the location near the temple was convenient, with a lift available, but the rest of the stay was disappointing.

My experience at this hotel was quite disappointing. The room lacked cleanliness and the hygiene standards were lower than I anticipated. The service was unsatisfactory, with staff being unhelpful and unresponsive to my complaints. The facilities did not match the description, and the overall stay did not meet the advertised expectations. Given the cost, I expected higher quality in both service and cleanliness. I would not suggest this hotel to others and have no plans to return. I hope the management addresses these issues and enhances their service quality.
