Family • India • Aug 2026Disappointing Experience Due to Poor Communication and Blame-Shifting at Check-OutRating: 2/5I stayed at Royal Orchid Central Shivamogga on 17th and 18th May 2026, booking two rooms for 5 occupants (4 adults + 1 child aged 9) through Agoda. The hotel’s own policy clearly states that children below 12 stay free, which was a key reason for choosing this property.At check-in, the staff raised no issues regarding the child or any extra charges. Everything seemed smooth. However, at check-out, we were suddenly asked to pay an additional ’3,500. When we questioned this, the staff deflected responsibility by saying an ’intern’ was on duty during check-in and that it wasn’t their fault.While ’3,500 is not a huge amount, the complete lack of accountability and the blame game left a very bitter taste. No one took ownership of the miscommunication ’ instead, they shifted the fault to a junior staff member. This kind of unprofessional behaviour turns a minor billing issue into a major trust-breaker.The hotel itself has decent infrastructure and location, but this experience has made me hesitant to recommend Royal Orchid Central Shivamogga. Clear communication and accountability are basic expectations ’ unfortunately, both were missing here. Guests deserve better.Would not stay again.
