Sea Gadabout - Back Packers

Clean and nice room, but very small.There's no space for a chair or table and bathroom is also tiny.Great location, close to beach and food spots .check-in is at 2pm which is bit late than most hotels.Better suited for travelers and hostel style stays than for couples.

Sea Gadabout initially seemed like a great place, especially their top floor suite with a sea view which is excellent for the location. But the upkeep is really poor. The jacuzzi is faulty and there's dirt and bird droppings all over. The bedsheets were stained, the water bottles were marked, and the curtains were so filthy they looked like they had been used to clean floors. Basic toiletries weren't provided until we asked three times. The worst issue was housekeeping entering the room without knocking or ringing the bell. It might have been good once, but if things stay like this, the view alone won't cut it. Considering the nearly 10k per day price, you can find much cleaner and better places, and I wouldn't recommend Sea Gadabout to anyone.

Overall, this hotel is excellent. I stayed in a sea-facing balcony room, which was also quite spacious.

We reserved two rooms at this hotel for three days. Firstly, there was no elevator, which was not mentioned in the booking details. Since I was traveling with my elderly mother, it was very hard for her to climb the stairs. We requested to move to a room on the first floor, and on the second day, they provided a small room for her there. In one of the rooms, the AC didn't work at all during our stay, the bathrooms were not cleaned, and there was a terrible smell. The toilet was broken, and the fan speed was very poor. It was 38°C in Pondicherry. We repeatedly asked the management for help, but they only gave us a standing fan and did not fix anything. We paid a lot for the booking. The receptionist was rude and did not apologize. When we argued, they offered a partial refund. The hotel staff even entered our room without permission while we were out, which made us feel unsafe, especially as female guests. They said they entered to fix the AC. We expected basic privacy. After much dispute, they refunded 20% of the total amount. We wanted a relaxing holiday, not a refund. Our holiday was ruined and was the worst experience ever. We strongly advise against booking here as it will spoil your holiday.
