Our journey from NCR to this place was wonderful, especially with the rainy weather adding a magical touch. Keep in mind that the last 2 kilometers involve a narrow, single-lane road, so drive carefully and slowly. The Retreat promises stunning views of the valley, mountains, and a partial view of Tehri Dam and Lake. Since we visited during the rains, we mostly saw clouds. The sun peeked through occasionally, revealing glimpses of the scenery. The sunrise here must be spectacular. The food was somewhat disappointing, just average. Given the remote location, the food quality should be better, but it wasn't. Avoid the coffee and stick to tea. The property could use some maintenance, possibly due to the bad weather, so we'll give it the benefit of the doubt. The staff was very helpful, especially Bittu, who supported us throughout our stay from check-in to check-out. Look for him if you need assistance; he enjoys helping. Activities are limited—mainly relaxing and enjoying the peace. You can walk the trails starting right outside the gates or drive down to Tehri Dam, one of the tallest dams globally. You can also visit the lake shores for water activities. Overall, it's worth staying one night as part of a bigger trip, mainly because of the food quality.

A wonderful stay with very modest and welcoming staff who made us feel genuinely at home. Each morning, waking up to stunning sunrises over the untouched mountain scenery was the best part of our day. The meals were straightforward, fresh, and tasty—homely dishes that were filling but not too heavy, making us eager for seconds. All in all, a calm and unforgettable experience that I would happily suggest to others.
