100% prepayment is mandatory at our hostels on or prior to check-in to ensure guaranteed booking.
Consumption of alcohol & drugs is strictly prohibited at our hostels. In case anyone is found indulging in such activities, anywhere inside the hostel premises, we shall be liable to take strict actions ultimately leading to asking you to vacate the premises immediately and permanently blacklisted. The guest shall also be deemed unfit to continue any further at any of our hostels in case of non-adherence of general policies, misbehavior (physical/mental/verbal or in any kind) with other guests or hostel management, theft, vandalism, trespassing, non-payment/delay in payment of dues, other guest inconveniences or any such unwarranted actions. In all such cases, the guest shall be asked to vacate the premises immediately without any refunds.
Early check-in or late check-out is subject to availability and at the discretion of the management and may attract additional charges.
Guests with local IDs are allowed.
In case anyone is traveling in a group of 2+ more people, we do not guarantee the accommodation arrangement for all the guests in the same dorm room. Allocation of rooms happens in an automated manner subject to availability at the time, varied floor arrangements, etc. Right to admission is reserved.
In case the guest wants to meet the visitor, they can do so in our waiting area or common spaces. Note, visitors are not allowed inside any of the rooms, at any time. Visitor timings: : 9 AM to 9 PM.
In case you are arriving earlier than the check-in time, you can hang out in the common area/cafe until the check-in time. However, in case you are arriving as early as 7 AM, it is highly recommended to book a dormitory bed or a private room for the previous night as well.
Only female guests are permitted to check into the female dorm. If a male guest books this room type, check-in will be denied as per policy.
Outside food is strictly prohibited inside the hostel.
Please note: Guests travelling to The Hosteller Lansdowne must cross Kotdwar by 10:00 PM, as the forest road closes 11:00 PM–5:00 AM due to wildlife movement and no late-night travel is permitted.
Possession, consumption, or distribution of illegal drugs and narcotic substances is prohibited. Alcohol consumption is not permitted. Smoking is allowed only in designated smoking areas within the premises. A penalty of INR 2,000 per incident may apply for violations. Repeated violations, misconduct, or non-compliance may result in immediate termination of stay without refund.
Roadside parking is available around the property, approximately 50 meters away, and is free of charge.

Smoking is strictly permitted only in the dedicated smoking zones within the premises.
Specific policies may apply to different hostels under the brand at specific times of the year and the same shall be communicated at the time of check-in.
The Hosteller also believes and promotes lean hospitality, essentially meaning that we are believers of self-service, no porter/valet/etc, and are a no frills hospitality company. This is ingrained in our operating model in order to provide excellent services to our guests while keeping the accommodation costs as affordable as possible. We have also adopted a pay-as-you-go model for certain amenities such as locks, toiletries and towels on a chargeable, pay-as-you-use basis, which is communicated transparently to guests.
The Hosteller Lansdowne is pet friendly. We permit pets only for private room guests and not dorm bookers. Pets are strictly not allowed in the dorms. Any damages, in case, incurred during the stay shall be attributable to the pet owners.
The Hosteller Myngl Cafe serves vegetarian options. To maintain the backpacking culture and community spirit we promote self service in all our cafes. Cafe timing: 8 AM - 2 PM & 6 PM - 11 PM. Cafe timings may vary. Please refer to the Glu app for more details.
The Hosteller shall not be held responsible for guest’s loss of personal belongings and it shall be the responsibility of the guests to keep their valuables safe and secure.
The property is family-friendly. Please note: kids are allowed only in private rooms but not in dorm rooms. Accommodation of minors aged 6 years and above may be subject to additional charges, applicable terms and conditions, documentation requirements, and management approval.

"Our property is in a remote location with no direct on-site parking. Taxis or private cars/bikes can reach the main road, which is a 2 minute hike from the property. Private cars/bikes can be parked there, but at your own risk as no secured parking is available. The nearest secured parking is in Dharamshala (12 km away), from where guests must take a local taxi to reach the property. Please plan your travel accordingly.
