History

Asiana Airlines was established on February 17, 1988 with an aim to create an additional flag carrier for South Korea, as per the policy of South Korean government. The airline flew its first flight on December 1988 to Busan. Based in Seoul, South Korea, Asiana was founded by the Kumho Asiana Group, a South Korean conglomerate. Now, the airline is a member of the Star Alliance group.

Moving Ahead

Asiana Airlines has been undertaking many changes recently to lend a modern look to its current corporate identity. In February 2006, they rechristened their flight classes from First Class, Business Class and Economy Class to First, Business and Travel class, respectively.
