Kishangarh Airport, officially known by the name of its host city in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan, was inaugurated on October 11, 2017. The facility was developed as a greenfield project to enhance regional connectivity and did not replace a prior airport. In terms of passenger traffic, it functions as a regional domestic terminal and does not currently hold a global ranking; according to Airports Authority of India data for the 2023-2024 period, it remains outside the top fifty busiest airports in the country but serves as a vital node in the Regional Connectivity Scheme. Significant milestones for the airport include the commissioning of a 100 kWp solar power plant as part of its sustainability initiatives and the integration of traditional Bani Thani paintings into its terminal architecture to reflect local culture. The airport serves as a critical infrastructure support for Kishangarh, which is recognized globally as a major hub for the marble industry. Furthermore, it acts as the primary air gateway for the religious and heritage centers of Ajmer and Pushkar. By providing proximity to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah and the Brahma Temple, the airport facilitates the movement of thousands of pilgrims and business travelers, thereby bolstering the industrial and tourism-driven economy of central Rajasthan.
