The best spot to visit in Nainital; I really enjoyed the atmosphere, their customer service, and the food.

Calling this place a hotel is misleading; it's more like a guest house with just 8 rooms. The rooms are tidy and clean, though the one we stayed in had an unpleasant odor. The menu is sent to your phone separately, and breakfast options are limited to two or three dishes. Only tea is served by default, but you can request other food items, which are quite delicious. The staff is polite and friendly. It's a quiet spot away from Nani Lake, but the road to the lake isn't great unless you have your own transport. I would suggest this place because it feels very homely, but it seems a bit pricey compared to other hotels with more amenities. Choose it if you don't expect a wide breakfast selection. Also, the rooms are average in size, not very spacious.

We recently stayed at The Hive Cottage and were disappointed overall, despite the hotel's attractive exterior. The building looks high-end and well-kept, which was the biggest positive. The architecture and first impression are nice, but only from the outside. The location was a major problem. The hotel is advertised on MakeMyTrip as a 10-minute walk from Mall Road, but this is misleading. It's actually quite far and requires a steep uphill/downhill walk, making it difficult for toddlers and elderly family members. We had to spend an extra ₹800 on taxi rides to and from Mall Road each time we went out, which was not mentioned during booking. Breakfast was another disappointment. We were told at booking that a la carte options would be available, but upon arrival, only three fixed options were offered, and they were served late. The service seemed slow and unprepared. Although the property looks good from outside, the overall experience did not meet the expectations set by the website and booking confirmation. I would not recommend this hotel for families with kids, seniors, or anyone needing easy access to Mall Road and flexible breakfast options. I would not stay here again.

We booked this place last minute due to a poor experience at other homestays. However, Hive Cottage pleasantly surprised us. Key aspects like location, staff friendliness, food, and cleanliness were all excellent. We wanted a nice spot in Nainital to avoid traffic. It was close enough to walk to the city center but far enough to escape noise and congestion. If you want peace and great views while staying near the city center, this is a great choice.
