Just situated atop a steep uphill amidst the busy market area, this place feels like a hidden retreat the moment you step inside. Every single corner is breathtaking. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, and the lawn is the perfect spot to sit under the stars, enjoying the cold breeze and the beautiful valley views of Nainital. You can also play carrom while you step up to the first storey. Don't forget to keep reading the pictures and portraits of the Maharaja's this place once hosted. The Tiger heed handing upon the walls are surreal, an give you a royal heritage walk, down your room. Lighting is prefect to make you feel go back in the old days, warm, low, and yes, pin drop silence, absolutely no noise in the corridor.Upon request, my room was upgraded without any extra charges, which was a lovely gesture. The bathrooms instantly take you back to the royal era of the Maharajas, and the vintage furniture makes you feel like royalty yourself. The suites are exceptional, and Room 201 deserves a special mention, the bathroom was stunning, and the windows opened to fresh mountain air, lush trees, and birds chirping right outside.The property is very close to Mall Road; you can either walk down or take the Bara Bazaar lane to reach the Tibetan Market easily. The food was exceptional as well. A special thanks to Umesh and the entire staff for being so warm and hospitable throughout our 2-day stay.The facilities are good, but do not expect ultra-modern luxury. This place is for people who appreciate old-school charm, heritage aesthetics, and a royal vintage vibe. I would especially recommend it to families travelling together , they’re sure to love the experience.
I stayed here for a couple of nights. Firstly, always call up the property before reaching as the Google map route is incorrect. The property in itself is a heritage property and some really good view of Nainital. The room I stayed had a rodent issue which came from some old door connected to the washroom. Thankfully it went back the route it came from. Being an old property there were some creaking noise coming from roof at night but I guess that's because of the wooden roof. Property has ample of parking available which is a rarity in the properties at Nainital. Restaurant is nice and staff is also helpful. All and all loved the stay and would like to come back again. P.S. they have tiger skins hanging from the walls and interesting stories about the hunt undertaken by the King. Do take a time to read them and take a look at the old pictures.
