Golden Star Desert Camp

Excellent service provided during the jeep safari with Arman bhai.

To be very clear and precise, I would strongly advise avoiding this place as much as possible due to the terrible experience we had. This camp, like some others, claims to be a 5-star camp, but it definitely does not meet that standard. The price is very high considering the location, the way activities and services are offered. Just providing nice toiletries and some decoration doesn't make a room or camp 5-star. Now, for the details: there were lizards moving around the room and bathroom, which is not acceptable, especially with small children. The bathroom flush kept running continuously after use, and water was flowing nonstop. The bathroom exhaust fan was improperly installed and uncovered. When we reported this, staff said lizards are common in the desert and may be present in rooms. Then ants started coming in from outside onto the floor. Staff said ants might come if we have food in our luggage, but any family or group usually carries some food. This means ants can get into your belongings like clothes and other items, making it impossible to use your luggage without removing ants. After all this, we decided not to stay the night and planned to leave for a hotel in Jaisalmer after dinner and the dance show. When I asked to adjust the payment for the night stay, they refused outright, saying no adjustments or transfers are allowed. The desert safari was not included in our Rs. 4500 package for a couple with a 3-year-old for one night, which included night stay, dinner, breakfast, evening show, and camel safari. However, the camel safari is only done in the desert, not near the camp, so if you don't take the jeep safari (which costs Rs. 1500), you can't do the camel ride. Many camps offer similar packages at similar prices. So, we reluctantly stayed the night to avoid wasting money on a hotel and paid Rs. 1500 for the jeep safari. We had no desire to enjoy the evening show or dinner. Breakfast was basic with few items, not matching the so-called 5-star standard. We left early without breakfast since our bus was from Jaisalmer, and breakfast started late at 8 AM, which is not acceptable for a 5-star place. Overall, it was a waste of money and a terrible experience. The location is very remote, and once there, you can't do much, especially if you don't have your own vehicle. Photos are attached; zoom in to see the lizard. We missed taking photos of the lizards inside the room. I would say avoid desert camps altogether, not just this one, based on our experience, unless you want to be troubled. Even if you want to try, don't stay overnight. Total avoidance is the best choice. This should be a lesson for all camps. Absolutely, extremely not recommended.

Outstanding service and a great location. Definitely worth a visit.

The camp has excellent staff, and the safari ride organized by the resort was great. Arman Bhai was a wonderful guide for the safari and also very helpful at the resort.

They overcharge a lot under the pretense of jeep and camel safaris, charging 5500/- (not including hotel stay) without providing a proper camel ride. The jeep ride was very brief, and the desert quad bike ride was not included in the package. We visited in the off-season in May and still had to pay this high amount.
