Subject: URGENT ESCALATION – Hotel Changed to a cheaper one, Harassment by Hotel Staff & Refund RequestDear Agoda Customer Support Team,I am writing to formally escalate an extremely serious and unacceptable experience regarding my hotel booking.I had booked Chinar Lake View Hotel, Nainital, for 2 October, well in advance, for 8 rooms, and had already paid the hotel charges in advance through Agoda.On 1 October, just one day before my check-in, I received a call from Chinar Lake View Hotel informing me that they could not arrange the 8 rooms I had booked. They unilaterally changed my accommodation to Hotel Lake View, Mall Road, claiming that they would provide all 16 beds across 4 larger rooms and that an additional room would be provided if required.When I arrived at Hotel Lake View with my family, the arrangement was completely unacceptable. I therefore requested either an additional mattress or an additional room.At this point, a person named ***, who identified himself as the owner's son, behaved extremely aggressively and unprofessionally. He started shouting at me and told me that my family could either accept the rooms or leave. He also stated that he could cancel my booking because the hotel could get a higher rate due to the heavy rush on 2 October.This is particularly disturbing because I had already made the booking and paid in advance, and the hotel had itself changed my accommodation at the last minute.The situation became even worse when *** started verbally abusing me. He appeared to be intoxicated while dealing with guests and behaved in a highly threatening and completely unacceptable manner. I had to strongly confront him simply to prevent him from cancelling the accommodation and leaving my family without a place to stay.The rooms provided were also in extremely poor condition, with dirty rooms, unclean staff/common areas and dirty washrooms. The overall standard of the property and the behaviour of the staff were completely unacceptable.I hold Agoda responsible for resolving this matter.I booked and paid through Agoda, and I expect Agoda to ensure that customers receive the accommodation they have paid for. Instead:My confirmed hotel was changed one day before check-in.The replacement property was substantially different from what I had booked.The replacement arrangement was inadequate for my family.I was subjected to aggressive and abusive behaviour by hotel staff.I was threatened with cancellation despite having a prepaid booking.The hotel condition was unacceptable.Most importantly, Agoda's system was apparently not even updated regarding the hotel change. I am still receiving requests from Agoda to review Chinar Lake View Hotel, despite actually being forced to stay at a different property.This has been an extremely stressful and humiliating experience for me and my family, particularly because we were travelling with family and had no practical alternative at that time due to the rush.I am therefore formally requesting a FULL REFUND of the amount paid for this booking.I also request Agoda to investigate the conduct of both Chinar Lake View Hotel and Hotel Lake View, Mall Road, including why my confirmed booking was changed at the last minute and why a hotel representative was allowed to threaten cancellation and verbally abuse a customer.Please do not treat this as a routine hotel-review complaint. This is a serious customer-service escalation involving a prepaid booking, last-minute accommodation substitution, unacceptable hotel conditions, and abusive behaviour by hotel staff.I expect Agoda to take this matter seriously and provide me with a full refund and a written explanation of how this situation was allowed to occur.I look forward to an urgent resolution.Regards,***
