KTDC Kumarakom Gateway Resort

We had a pleasant stay at KTDC Kumarakom lake gateway, so far this one of best stay in entire Alappuzha. The amenities, polite staff behaviour, food everything was in par to 5 star hotel. This hotel has an amazing lake view, has beautiful sunrise and sunset views. Moreover the hotel is affordable than other fancy 5 star hotels. Highly recommended !!!

Great location. But rates are way too high for the service and facility offered. There are many other resorts available with better facilities and ambience. This facility is operated like a government office. Staff are trying their best, but they are not trained to do the hospitality work.We went their on a weekday and it was pretty much empty. The view from the room is awesome. That is best you can get at that location to the back waters.There is a newly built swmimming pool which seems to be state of the art. Staff are seemingly not well trained for having global guests. Canteen or cafeteria also is not upto great standards for the price 6000Rs /night.Room was smaller, bathrooms do not have tubs. I felt like staying a government guest house.

If you are looking for a pleasant stay, you can choose this Resort without second thought.Resort is well maintained. Rooms are neat and clean. Suitable for family and Couples. All stops are friendly. Swimming Pool is clean and not much chlorine. Kids swimming pool available.Swings and sleep nets are available. Archery game is availableFood is Okay.If you need some more better place with extra price, you can select KTDC waterscapes which is located nearby (5kms)

Very nice views if you want to be right next to the lake.One can see local fishermen morning and evening, no houseboats at all.If you are one of those travellers who like to chill out while not wanting to go here and there this is the perfect place for you. Ask for the rooms with the lake view. The bathroom was so so, just okay.In the restaurant Mr. Rajith ktdc restaurant manager was a very nice and helpful person. Food was not expensive at all and not spicy either. If I would suggest its the best place for the Foreigners ( I didn't see any, probably they dont know about it).The staff was polite. Just the perfect place for a holiday.As a suggestion you should hire a vehicle with yourself as finding an uber is impossible and the three wheelers outside are plenty if you are willing to pay 30 rupees a km. Keep them for the whole day otherwise getting back can be a nightmare ( one can't get a 3 wheeler easily there if you go out) Taxi from hotel is also possible.

1. Very good hospitality by all starting from security, reception, dinning.2. Very good tasty food also healthier items. Buffet for all the three. Fish items along with veg is available.3. What needs to be improveda) some entertainment activities like kerala traditional music, dance, art forms can given to guests in the evening. Atleast for an hour. Also this can be used to given opportunity to the young people to showcase their talent.b) one hour of boat ride can be arranged starting from the resort and ending in the resort itselfc) it will be better if there is provision to buy snacks both branded and also cooked once like samosa, pazham pori etc. it need not be operated by the resort itself. It has a lengthy road facing area, there few shops may be constructed opening in both sides. The rent also will come to the resort besides satisfying customer.d) there could be a big display map near the reception, showing the famous temples and tourist places with the distance. Say with in 50 kms. So that people can see it and enjoy those places.
