We recently stayed at Shawn Elizey while attending a friend’s wedding hosted at the venue. At first glance, the property creates a strong impression - the bonsai arrangements, landscaping, and palatial elevation are inviting and give a ’wow’ factor.However, the experience quickly deteriorated once we moved past the reception. The carpets in the common lobby were extremely dirty, and upon entering the room, we were met with a damp smell. The room itself was poorly maintained, with unclean linens that were neither fresh nor properly ironed.During our stay, we had three main meals, each of which was bland and tasteless, lacking any culinary appeal. Another noticeable aspect was the owner’s obsession with branding - every corner of the venue and even items in the room were labeled with the Shawn Elizey name, which felt excessive rather than enhancing.While the architects deserve credit for efficiently utilising space to accommodate multiple weddings, the management has turned the guest experience into a nightmare. The lack of cleanliness, poor food quality, and overall neglect overshadow the property’s architectural strengths.

If there was a negative star, maybe that would have been the review. Being one of the top hotels in Jabalpur, we chose Shawn for our wedding reception. From the moment we started talking to the staff 3 days before our reception, to finalise decor, check on rooms etc. for our guests, our experience started to degrade exponentially. A staff asked us in the most degrading way possible as to why we're doing a day time reception, another one walked out of a conversation on rooms, and a third one who was supposed to be a supervisor listening to our issue actually started eating something while casually listening to our problems. We were still assured of alternative solutions for the issues. Us being naive and polite, we believed. Fast forward to the actual day, me and my partner were at the venue from morning 7 to morning 9, with 20 of our guests including elderly folks and pregnant lady on a freezing day, zero comfort, kindness, and responsibility from the staff - to the point where they yelled at us denying us any rooms. We were supposed to start our reception at 12, till 9 we were just stressed and waiting for someone to respond to us in human way. It was our big day, and by the end of it, all we knew was - we can't be here anymore, and we're never coming back here. They have a sales team to sell false promises and collect money, they have a decor team to preach you things and not listen to what you want because you may not be asking for "Shawn level things", but they seemingly do not have an experience team who can actually ask you about how the event went and if anything can be improved. If this is how hospitality industry works, maybe we'd never gain our trust back again for all the trauma we had to go through. Shawn Elizey, we deserved better.

I had a good experience at Hotel Shawn Elizey. The rooms were neat and clean, and the food was good. I stayed here for a CME program, and everything went smoothly.Overall, a comfortable stay with good arrangements. Recommended.

I am writing this review with a very heavy heart because we chose Shawn Elizey Hotel, Jabalpur for my close relative’s wedding reception, thinking it would be a beautiful and memorable evening. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most frustrating, disrespectful, and poorly managed events we have ever experienced.Right from the final discussion a day before the event, the experience was terrible. Instead of meeting the actual management, they sent us to a very rude and uncooperative negotiator who flatly refused almost everything we had planned and finalized earlier. She kept saying ’it won’t be possible’ to almost every request, even though these were the same things they had happily promised and agreed to during the booking and multiple previous meetings.Some of the biggest false promises they made and completely failed to deliver:’ They promised to take personal care of our guests and even said they would arrange carts/golf carts to bring elderly guests and main family members comfortably to the venue from the parking area. On the actual day ’ zero arrangement, no one even bothered to guide or help our guests.’ They assured smooth pre-check-in for our main family guests who were arriving from out of station. Result? Our most important guests (including elderly relatives) were made to wait outside for almost 4 hours without being allowed to check in, even after repeated reminders and showing the booking confirmation.’ When one of our guests politely asked about the room availability (which was promised), the staff literally yelled at them in front of everyone. The behaviour was shocking and completely unacceptable.On the day of the reception:’ The staff showed zero interest in attending to guests. We (the family) had to run around managing everything ourselves ’ from guiding people, arranging water, handling small requests ’ everything.’ The decoration was pathetic. One entire side of the main stage was piled high with waste materials, broken chairs, and cleaning equipment ’ clearly visible to all guests. No one bothered to clear it or even hide it.’ Food service was slow, staff was least bothered, and overall coordination was non-existent.The hotel took zero accountability for any of the failures. Whenever we tried to speak to the manager, we got vague answers and no sense of responsibility.This was supposed to be one of the most special days of our lives. Instead, Shawn Elizey turned it into a nightmare of stress, embarrassment, and disappointment for the entire family and all our guests.Extremely poor management, rude & untrained staff, broken promises at every step, and zero accountability.I would never recommend this hotel to anyone for any event ’ especially not for something as important as a wedding reception.Please save yourself the heartache and choose any other venue in Jabalpur. 1 star is being generous.Extremely disappointed and hurt.Never again.

Extremely Unprofessional and Harassing ExperienceI stayed at Shawn Elizey Hotel, Jabalpur for a friend’s wedding, and the experience turned extremely unpleasant at the time of checkout.Around 10 hours after the wedding function, when the bride and groom were rushing to catch their flight/train, the hotel staff held our luggage hostage and suddenly demanded ’50,000 for an allegedly burnt carpet in a banquet hall. There was no such damage shown or documented earlier, and the carpet already appeared old. This clearly felt like a last-minute tactic to extract money from guests who were under time pressure.The manager, Rajeev Kumar, and the reception staff were rude, unprofessional, and intimidating from the very beginning, repeatedly making us run up and down the hotel. The manager openly stated that he runs the hotel, there is no one above him, and that he would not allow us to leave or release the luggage unless the money was paid.Even the staff and security threatened and attempted to stop the car at the hotel gate. We were only allowed to leave after police intervention, which itself speaks volumes about the situation.I strongly recommend that anyone planning to stay or host a function here should directly coordinate with the owner (Mr. Saaz / Mr. Nitin Chandok) and get their contacts beforehand. Otherwise, there is a serious risk of being harassed or exploited by the staff, led by their manager.This was a highly stressful and unacceptable experience, especially during what should have been a happy occasion.
