Vedic Village Retreat

What should have been a lovely birthday stay was unfortunately marred by poor communication and a disappointing lack of accountability from the management. Before booking, we specifically confirmed with the reservation team that the package inclusions they shared—including the boat ride among other things—would apply even if we booked through Agoda. We also clearly specified that we wanted the Kodangallur property, and were assured the inclusions applied. After check-in, we called reception to arrange the boat ride. Nobody informed us that it was chargeable even then. We only found out after the ride, when the boatman asked us for payment. We were then told that the package details shared with us were actually for their Alleppey property. This was never clarified despite our multiple conversations with the reservation team. The General Manager acknowledged the communication gap, but still maintained that it was “not their fault” and offered no satisfactory resolution or apology. This was never about the money. It was about transparency and accountability. If a service is chargeable, guests should be clearly informed before using it—not after the service is completed.

Enjoyable visit with excellent cuisine.

The food was incredibly tasty, and we felt lucky to enjoy lunch and dinner on the day of check-in as well as breakfast the next morning. The staff were very polite and welcoming. I want to acknowledge Chef Nikson Jacob and his team for their skill in preparing the meals, as they truly put their passion into cooking. Restaurant Manager Mr. Karthik and servers Dheeraj and Alina have been invaluable to Vedic Village. None of this would have been possible without the excellent leadership of Mr. Thomas, the Resort GM. We also want to express our gratitude to the Housekeeping Manager and GM for their special recognition of our 23rd wedding anniversary. Thanks to every staff member, from security and front desk to gardeners and housekeepers, who made our 24-hour stay unforgettable. We will definitely return.

My sister arranged this property as a wedding present for me. We came all the way from Bangalore expecting a pleasant stay, having booked 2 rooms through the official website and paid the full amount upfront. However, upon arrival, we were shocked to learn that our reservations were not found in their system. Traveling such a long distance for an important event, this was very upsetting and stressful. The situation was made worse by how it was managed. We didn’t want to cause trouble or argue with staff, so we only asked for a 50% discount on a future booking as compensation for the inconvenience, but even this fair request was refused. Additionally, the refund was not issued the same day; we waited almost 3 weeks to get our money back, despite full prepayment. This was meant to be a joyful and memorable occasion, but poor booking handling and lack of adequate compensation ruined it. I urge management to enhance their reservation system and, more importantly, improve how they address genuine customer problems. Mistakes can happen, but the response to them is crucial. The booking was made under my sister Viji’s name. Overall, a very disappointing experience.
