Club Mahindra Cherai Beach, Kochi

We took a 6day- 6night break at CM Cherai. The highlight of the visit was the staff- special mention of FO staff Ansa and F&B staff Elizabeth at the restaurant who were always cheerful and pleasant,Chef Vipin requires a very high commendation and special mention. He cooked us all the vegetarian delicacies of the state for our lunches. We ordered a la carte every day. He would check the previous day with us on what we would like and made sure it was all cooked the way we asked him to. Healthy, wholesome and tasty home-made like food. It was a delightful experience.

The resort is beautifully located between the backwaters on one side and the Cherai beach on the other.Very courteous and sincere staffThe only grudge I have ( not just this resort, but Club Mahindra in general) is that almost everything/ every service is charged. There is no respite from expenses. While they have a la carte options in their restaurant, the choices are limited. Having the buffets on a daily basis will drill a huge hole in your pocket - especially if you are traveling with your family. They should offer a buffet-lite option to serve guests having limited appetite.Fortunately, there are some good restaurants in walking distance. Sea food lovers will be spoilt for choice in these.Also very safe to walk across to these restaurants even at night.Commuting to the main city ( Kochi/Ernakulam) can be time consuming (almost 75-90 mins depending on traffic). God forbid ,if there is ferry crossing you may be delayed further by 30-45 mins.While Ola/ Uber are available, need to be planned in advance. However, there is a taxi stand Bangalore outside the resort and provide prompt ( though a bit costly) service.All in all, beautiful locale and property with great staff, but drains your wallet substantially.

This property doesn’t fit to be a 5 star property.We had booked the property to spend our 5th wedding anniversary which was on 15th of February. We planned to stay for 14th & 15th night. But due to below reasons we chose to get out of the property by 15th morning as we booked at Le meridian, Cochin.Rooms1. The door had card reader but not working and keys were to be used and it stuck with the door most of the time2. The view finder lens is roughly 2 feet from floor . Don’t know why so low3. The bed had bugs in it and my 3 year old kid had his back with bite marks . We didn’t even sleep for an hour4. The room were fitted with centralised AC but didn’t work and instead had ’ CHILLTON’ split AC which again didn’t work .5. The room phone didn’t work either , so I had to walk all the way up to reception to ask or complain .6. The WiFi didn’t work as it kept saying unlocking room number while logging in.7. The food was average for the price . The starters are priced 800 rs. The food quality went for a toss as my wife had stomach upset the next morning.8. They were just painting and varnishing just outside our room, the paint and varnish smell was too overwhelming that my kid got wheeze.I CALL UPON THE AUDIT TEAM OF CLUB MAHINDRA TO VISIT THIS PROPERTY AND STAY OVERNIGHT TO UNDERSTAND THE PLIGHT OF GUESTS THAT GO THROUGH STAYING HERE.I DO NOT RECOMMED TO VISIT THE PROPERTY UNTILL IT IS RENOVATED. I WILL NEVER VISIT THIS PROPERTY AGAIN.

You need to know that:1. If you are not a member you will not get the backwater facing room.2. It is not a brand new property so don't expect everything to be sparkling. But it is maintained quite well.Apart from this. Everything was PERFECT. A location that's beyond amazing. Great staff who go above and beyond to help you. Food is nothing extraordinary but decent and reasonably priced
