According to Airports Authority of India data for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the airport handled 188,014 passengers, ranking it as a mid-tier domestic facility. A significant milestone occurred in 2024 with the commencement of a new integrated terminal project, costing 574 crore INR, which will expand capacity to 1,400 passengers during peak hours. The airport also serves as a critical hub for the Indian Air Force’s heavy-lift fleet, including the C-17 Globemaster III. As a gateway to a world-renowned heritage destination, the airport supports Agra’s status as a tourism hub for the Taj Mahal and a center for leather and handicraft industries.
