I stayed at Amritara Suryauday Haveli from 10–12 April, and the experience was highly disappointing, especially considering the premium pricing.🚫 Major Issue – Accessibility (Serious Concern)There is no proper road access to the hotel. Guests are required to:•Walk लगभग 1 km through very narrow, crowded lanes•Carry luggage manually•Manage completely on their ownNo car or auto can drop you near the entrance. This becomes extremely difficult at night and is not safe or convenient, especially for families or senior citizens.If you are arriving from Delhi (even via Vande Bharat), reaching the hotel becomes a complete ordeal after a long journey.Even more concerning:•No proper pickup or assistance•Calls are not answered when guidance is needed🧑💼 Service Experience•Reception: Very poor, unhelpful, and indifferent attitude•Security & Housekeeping: Cooperative and decent•Overall service does not match the price point💸 Value for MoneyAt these rates, one can stay at top global 5-star hotels offering far better:•Access•Service•ComfortThis property is not worth the money charged.⸻❌ Final Verdict•Very poor accessibility•Weak front office management•Not suitable for luggage / elderly / late-night arrivals•Overpriced for the experience offered👉 Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.Agoda being premium customer of yours this was actually a scam.
Varanasi is one of these spiritual locations where you should not expecting a 5-star hotel. But I give this a high rating because of the location, history of the hotel, excellent service and great breakfast buffet (small but mighty).Things to note:Lots of small alleyways in Varanasi which means getting to the hotel involves walking about 5 minutes in these to get to the hotel. (Thank goodness for the staff schlepping our luggage!)Lots of steps to get to the river (out of the hotel and then out to the water).Room WiFi slow but go out to the patio area!Make use of the high tea! Both days had something different and again, small but interesting selection.

Solo Traveller • Feb 2026We spent 3 nights at this hotel. It’s an old palace that belonged to the king of Nepal that’s converted into a hotel. Only has 14 rooms. The price we paid was a bomb’ more than a Taj in Mumbai. For that I would rate the rooms a 3. Very small and cramped. We had a dinner here one night. The live music was nice but the food was cold and very average. Nothing stood out. The service was attentive & courteous but we didn’t eat there again. Also the breakfast buffet laid on the terrace with a beautiful view of the ghats .. only had the view , again the food was cold & uninspiring. Pity because Banaras is known for its lip smacking food, but the chefs here need immediate training . Also it’s very hard to get to the hotel’ not recommended for older guests or people who find it hard to walk.Sorry to say, other than the view this hotel has nothing else to speak for it . I would find an alternate place next time I visit Varanasi
