FabHotel De Sivalika - 500m from Belur Math

Were it possible I would have given negative marking. The hotel staff are improperly behaved. I visited in the evening and it was pre-book. They offered a shabby room which we denied. They had other rooms too but they didn't let us check in, in those rooms. The hotel staff were so bad that they even told us to leave the hotel. It was around 10pm and we really left the hotel without checking in. Will suggest people to avoid this hotel if visiting with family or friends, as you will not have a warm experience

Found a cockroach in my room. Rooms need repairing, cleaning, painting, polishing the metal fixtures, buying new linens and beddings, etc. Staff is cordial and trying to provide good service considering what is available.

Great location, but poorly maintained roomsThe location is excellent, but the room conditions need significant improvement. The tap, toilet, and commode were in poor shape, and the room wasn’t very clean. During rainfall, water leaked and entered the room, which was quite inconvenient.The food was average with limited breakfast options, and the TV was out of order. Considering the room and food quality, the overall cost feels on the higher side. In short, proper maintenance of the rooms is lacking.On a positive note, the staff were polite, helpful, and always ready to assist.

As per the premium price they charge for the rooms get ready to be welcomed to the most dirty black themed washroom where they have left no stones unturned to keep the toilet seat dirtier than those found in public toiletThe speed of water in taps is super slow and if you wish to have a shower then please forget that.Now coming to the main pointThey have written big notes on no alcohol and no unmarried couples or prostitution allowedBut we have ourselves seen 3 couples out of which 1 clearly looked like a prostitute entering the hotel in a matter of 30minutes while we were waiting for our cab to arrive.Infact they maintain seperate register to enter their names. Clearly local identity and no luggageWhile a decent family is expected to fulfill n number of formalities like identity card,signature and also a webcam photo being takenThese under the table silthy work needs no verificationIt was utterly disgusting and unfit for the family trip especially taking into consideration the fact that this place is walkable distance from a divine place of religious interest like BELUR MATHShame on the hotel

The hotel looked good in photos, though Google reviews were mixed, so I decided to try it. Unfortunately, my experience was closer to the negative reviews. On arrival, I was shown multiple rooms ’ all had a damp, unpleasant smell, some had just been painted and the fumes hadn’t dried, making them unsuitable. I was travelling with my 68-year-old father, so staying in such conditions for 3 days was not possible, especially after paying a premium.After I raised my concern, the staff showed me another room. It was slightly better but still far from clean. Bigger rooms had stained, moldy sofas, the commode wasn’t properly cleaned, and the TV didn’t work until they replaced a broken remote. The staff kept repeating that they were giving me a ’big room complimentary,’ but honestly, I would have preferred a smaller, clean room instead.The only positive was that the staff were polite and tried to help, but the overall standards of maintenance, hygiene, and facilities were well below expectations. Sadly, I will not be choosing this hotel again and hope the management addresses these issues seriously.
