Indian hill stations are refuges from the heat and bustle of the lowlands, and the Hotel Norbu House is in a class of its own in this regard. It is on the higher slopes of McLeod Ganj overlooking Dharamsala and protected from the honking of the town by being right on the edge of the hill. Staff is very welcoming and the facilities are superior. Look at the photo of my room! My "office" for the week has the endless view right from my desk. And for a lovely diversion, have a lemon ginger honey drink on the spacious terrace. Amazing!
Everything about the stay was outstanding. The rooms, especially the premium ones with views of the valley, are absolutely stunning. We felt like we were inside the clouds and didn't want to leave that day. The Shri Dalai Lama temple is just a short walk from the hotel. Upon arrival, we were greeted with ginger lemon tea, which was delightful. The minibar was included in the room. Mornings spent on the balcony were incredible. We met Mr. Wangdue, the owner, who is a very humble man and personally checked to ensure our stay was comfortable. The staff team was amazing. The breakfast spread was impressive with everything laid out. The mall is only a 5-minute walk away. This is definitely a place you must stay at, and be sure to book early.
