Shalom Backpackers Mcleodganj (Dharamkot)

I spent around 10 days at Shalom and had a fantastic time. I wanted a bright, attractive room with mountain views for under ₹2,000 per night, and Shalom delivered exactly that. As a solo female traveler, I felt secure and had plenty of privacy. The room was perfect—the curtains, wall decorations, natural lighting, and overall vibe matched what I was hoping for. Located in the hills of Upper Dharamkot, the property offers beautiful scenery and tranquility while still being close to many cafés, eateries, and small shops. One thing I really appreciated was how quiet the hostel was; it wasn’t noisy or overly social, making it ideal for relaxing and enjoying solitude. At the same time, it had everything I needed for a comfortable workation, including a desk for working and a smart TV for YouTube and Netflix. Having a café on-site was very convenient, almost like room service—I could order food or drinks anytime. My daily morning ginger-lemon-honey tea became a nice routine. Plus, Utopia Café is nearby, so if something wasn’t available at Shalom, I could easily walk there. The staff were kind, friendly, helpful, and open to feedback throughout my stay. Laundry services were affordable, which was handy for a longer visit. The only thing I wished for was a small fridge and microwave in the room, especially for a 10-day stay. Otherwise, Shalom was excellent. If you want a peaceful, beautiful, and budget-friendly place in Upper Dharamkot to relax, work, and enjoy the mountains, it’s a great choice.

The view of Dharmkot and the mountains is the best around! The people and staff are fantastic! Definitely a place you must visit overall. Check it out.

The stay was wonderful; Akarshan was very helpful and kind. He is the manager and looks after the property. The stay was fantastic, and the view from my room was stunning. Overall, the stay and services were excellent, and everything was good.

The food was good, the staff were decent, and the view was scenic. I plan to visit again soon.
